The Apple MacBook Pro

Apple announced updates to its MacBook Pro line of 15-inch and 17-inch models that feature Intel’s recently introduced Penryn microprocessors. These new models also include a smaller version of the multi-touch trackpad introduced in the MacBook Air, which supports two-finger scrolling, pinch, rotate, swipe, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities. Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Penryn), at $3,149 (direct), isn’t the first laptop to undergo an Intel brain transplant in the form of a next-generation Penryn processor , but it’s among the most sizzling so far. At the heart of this MacBook Pro, the 2.6-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 CPU and 4GB RAM played a pivotal role in tearing up performance tests, including a compelling 15 percent increase in battery life.

MacBook Pro is built on the revolutionary Intel Core 2 Duo which packs the power of two processor cores (up to 2.4GHz) inside a single chip. It provides 4MB of Smart Cache, L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. MacBook Pro has a frontside bus and memory that, at 667MHz, runs faster than any previous Mac notebook. MacBook Pro features up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 memory with a faster, 800MHz frontside bus and support for hard drives up to 250GB. Ultimate speed, performance, and connectivity.

Apple gives its high-end notebook a speed and graphics boost and a stunning LED display. You can’t tell by looking at the sexy, familiar aluminum design that the MacBook Pro has undergone several significant improvements that elevate it from a very good machine to one that’s arguably the best in its class. Apple has realised after selling a few MacBooks how much fewer reports there are of damaged or ripped out keys. So now the company is testing a new anodized aluminium “super thin” keyboard of the wired and wireless variety designed in a similar way to the MacBook keyboard with the public.

Apple admitted that some of its more recent MacBook Pro models may contain faulty Nvidia graphics chips that produce distorted video or even fail completely. If your MacBooks have distorted or scrambled video on the computer screen or no video on the computer screen (or external display) even though the computer is on then you are eligible for a free repair or replacement of your faulty graphics card. Apple wasn’t the first to come out with a Penryn-based laptop, but this MacBook Pro is one of the fastest laptops since these processors launched in January. Gamers might also appreciate the enhancements to the graphics chipset. Apple will fix any Nvidia graphics card problem for free within two years of the original purchase date. If you’ve had to pay to get the problem fixed before, Apple will give you a refund.

Designed to replace the original 4X and 6X SuperDrives in these systems, the MCE 8X SuperDrive optical drive was designed specifically to accommodate the slender form factor of the MacBook Pro 15-inch and MacBook. The MCE 8X SuperDrive upgrade for the MacBook Pro 15-inch and MacBook includes all required tools and instructions to perform the upgrade and carries a street price of $199.
