  Lenovo ThinkPad X200

The ThinkPad X200s Notebook is powered by latest small form factor Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology, all in a thin and light design. In addition to the standard configuration, equipment available on select models include a carbon and glass fiber top cover roll cage, up to 128GB of solid-state drive storage, LED backlit displays, Bluetooth connectivity, and a nine-cell battery. The ThinkPad X200 retains much of the same basic design of the previous generation ThinkPad X-series notebooks, but switches from a 4:3 12-inch display to a 12-inch widescreen display. It weighs from 3.0 to 3.6 pounds, depending on battery size.

The ThinkPad X200 (non-tablet) supports standard-voltage parts, whereas the X200s (review coming shortly) and the X200 Tablet run ultra-low-voltage (ULV) and low-voltage processors. Technically, it’s not as fast as the “P” series processor in the LifeBook T5010 or the “T” series one in the Portege M700-S7002. The ThinkPad X200 soars to the top of the performance charts, while delivering battery life well into the 6-hour range. It maintains many of the classic ThinkPad qualities, like the industry-leading keyboard and a wide range of wireless connectivity options. The ThinkPad X200 Notebook is packed with a host of new technologies and a larger ergonomic keyboard for improved comfort and productivity. It also features an updated version of Access connections for improved and simplified connectivity.

The Thinkpad X200 will serve a specific audience: mobile professionals who demand power and portability. The X200 fills this void without a doubt, offering excellent battery life and power under the hood that matches most mid-size entertainment laptops twice its size. The ThinkPad X200 has received an EPEAT Silver rating for conformance to a set of comprehensive environmental features, and met 23 required criteria and 50% of the optional criteria. With its focused air flow design, ThinkPad X200 is cooler than its predecessors and provides balanced temperatures across the system. Intel’s spanking-new Centrino 2 mobile platform (code-named “Montevina”) brings a host of upgrades, chief among them improved performance and battery life. Those enhancements are especially welcome to buyers of ultraportable laptops, who place a high priority on long runtime but have often had to sacrifice speed to get it.

Lenovo?s new ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC also leads the industry for its light weight design, with models shedding almost 10 percent over the previous generation Tablet PC?s weight. Additionally, the Tablet PC also offers models with nearly 50 percent longer battery life. Powered by the latest small form factor Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology, the ThinkPad X200s notebook combines thin and light design with powerful functionality. Select models are reinforced with Lenovo’s signature carbon and glass fiber top cover roll cage to provide ultra-light design with extra strength to exceed the rigors of mobile computing environments, helping make it Lenovo’s lightest ThinkPad notebook to date.
