The well-known manufacturer of high-quality, secure and easy-to-use technology products, Lenovo has announced the launch of its new super-slim, super-small netbook PC, named as IdeaPad S10, combining tiny technology, high fashion and extreme portability to enhance your computing experience.
“IdeaPad netbooks are the latest in a string of recently announced Lenovo products, designed specifically for consumers worldwide and developed through our heritage of technological innovation and exceptional engineering,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president, Consumer Business Group, Lenovo, at the launch of the IdeaPad S10.
Lenovo offers the IdeaPad S10 in two configurations, with one having 512 MB of memory and an 80 GB hard drive and the second configuration having 1 GB of memory and a 160 GB hard drive. The processing performance and storage make the IdeaPad S10 ideal for accommodating a variety of data, from a user’s digital music inventory to a student’s homework assignments and more. Lenovo engineered the IdeaPad S10 netbook to reduce the heat emitted on key contact areas such as the bottom of the PC, the palm rest and the keyboard.
The guys at PC Magazine were the first to get their hands on the technical specifications and press photos of the new IdeaPad S10, a 10-inch netbook meant to compete with ASUS’ Eee PC 1000-series and MSI’s Wind. Even more, it certainly looks like Lenovo’s S10 is ready to provide us with a large number of features in the same 10-inch form factor as ASUS’ Eee PC 1000-series. The S10 will also pack 2GB of memory and will come equipped with an Intel 945 GSE Express chipset and the GMA 950 graphics.
A Linux version is also expected to make its debut but, according to PC Magazine, Linux-based S10 will be made available only overseas.
Unsurprisingly there’s little differentiating the S10 from its rivals aside from the chassis and the software configuration, but that’s the nature of the netbook beast. Still, the S10 definitely looks the part with a sleek all-white, black and white ro red and white chassis and it houses a decent hardware configuration.
Initially then, the S10 will cost you either $399 for a 512MB memory, 80GB HDD model or $450 for a 1GB, 160GB HDD model, and comes in black red or white. From the OS point of view, first S10 mini-laptops will be offered with Microsoft Windows XP preinstalled, but later on Lenovo will start offering Linpus Linux preloaded models too.
“As rapidly as the technology changes, today’s consumers are looking for mobile products that feature the best of basic computing functions in an extremely compact and affordable form, and Lenovo designed the IdeaPad netbooks for that purpose.“
