The Pavilion dv5t is a 15.4-inch notebook from HP that can be considered the replacement for the dv6000 series. Featuring rounded corners and a glossy finish, the base configuration packs a 2.0GHz Dual-Core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g WiFi connectivity, and four USB ports. The Pavilion dv5t SE comes in a ceramic white chassis, meanwhile the dv4t SE offers a midnight-blue chassis with the “crashing waves” pattern. Design wise the dv5t has been updatd with a new Imprint 2 onyx and chrome finish. Blu-Ray is part of the mix too. A sleek and sophisticated looking design gives the pavilion dv5t the upper hand over the competition. With a thin chassis the notebook posses’ an ultramodernized look which should appeal to anyone and everyone.
Keyboard feedback is excellent. The keys have a smooth, almost-glossy coating and feel nice, keyboard even has notebook style keys. There are also dedicated keys for sleep and awake. The HP Pavilion dv5t and the Dell Studio 15 benefit from lamination techniques and inlaid patterns, whereas Apple, a big proponent of aluminum, uses it to deck out the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Penryn). The HP Pavilion dv5t series combines mobility and visual performance in one smooth package. Its design encompasses an onyx and chrome finish as well as a liquid metallic finish. The HP Pavilion dv5t is part of a large group of HP consumer laptops (all the Pavilion ones, as well as the Compaq Presario laptops) to receive an interior chrome treatment. If in these new models the convergence between a laptop and a home-theater experience isn’t otherwise apparent, its new “frameless” widescreen and built-in TV tuner should drive that point home.
