HP Mini Note 1000

The HP Mini 1000 line of netbooks will be using Intel’s Atom processor instead of a VIA processor (used in HP mini-note 2133). You now have the option of getting an HP netbook which has an SSD installed (8GB or 16GB). The HP Mini 1000 with MIE (Mobile Internet Experience) has an HP-developed interface making it easy to enjoy digital content - videos, photos, music and email - on demand and on the go. MIE comes loaded with instant messaging, email and Skype for online video chat.

The HP Mini 1000 is primarily made of plastic as opposed to aluminum body of HP’s previous netbook. Although it does reduce the weight of the laptop and also gives WiFi performance a boost, but metal offers sturdiness and better overall build quality. The HP Mini 1000 should have better performance as a result. The HP Mini 1000 currently only has a 3-cell battery, but a 6-cell option is coming. Some key differences that James noted are the loss of the ExpressCard slot, limit of 60GB hard drive, and no VGA port (there is a new port that requires an adapter).

Users can choose between 8.9- or 10.2-inch 1024×600 LED-backlit displays, 8GB or 16GB SSDs or a conventional 60GB hard drive. All models ship with built-in Wi-Fi, and 3G versions are expected in December. MIE comes loaded with instant messaging, email and Skype for online video chat, making it easy to enjoy social-media experiences anywhere consumers are connected. Favorite websites that are added to the dashboard stay live, and the taskbar makes it easy to switch between programs. MIE was basically made to do one thing - to get on the user on the Internet quickly. It’s basically a home screen of sorts that will give you one click access to almost everything Internet related. MIE comes loaded with instant messaging, email and Skype for online video chat. Applications enabling browsing, email and online video are pre-loaded and run from the MIE dashboard, minimizing startup time.
