Eye-Fi has developed an SD memory card that is embedded with a wireless radio transmitter, to allow for automatic uploading of digital photographs to the home computer and/or a variety of the most popular online photo-sharing websites. Eye-Fi Share includes unlimited, secure Web-sharing service that allows users to automatically upload photos directly to their preferred photo sharing, social networking or blogging site, using their home wireless network. Eye-Fi announced three new wireless SD memory cards, including the Eye-Fi Explore, which will automatically add geographic location tags to each photo and will allow users to upload their memories from Wi-Fi hotspots. By offering three different Eye-Fi Cards and new features, the goal is to give consumers exactly what delights them.
The original Eye-Fi Card, now called Eye-Fi Share, is designed for the photographer who wants to effortlessly upload images directly to their preferred photo sharing site in addition to their computer. And, the Eye-Fi Home is aimed at users who want to simply and wirelessly upload digital memories to their home computer. The Eye-Fi Home wirelessly uploads to the home computer. The Eye-Fi Share wirelessly uploads to the home computer and/or a selection of photo-sharing websites. The Eye-Fi Explore has all the features of the Eye-Fi Share, but also geotags photos and works with over 10,000 WiFi hotspots across the nation. Eye-Fi has developed a product that combines hardware, software and service in a user-friendly manner.
After installing the software (conveniently stored on the card) and creating a free account on Eye-Fi’s Web site, you select a wireless connection and choose a destination for your uploaded photos (after your intial setup, you can sock the reader away and never use it again). The Eye-Fi is an instant solution to add wireless upload capability to any digital camera that supports an SD card. Your photos can only be delivered to the computer and folder you’ve chosen, so you don’t have to worry about your photos going elsewhere, even if you’re in a different wireless network. Eye-fi is a magical orange SD memory card that will not only store 2GB worth of pictures, it’ll upload them to your computer, and to Flickr, Facebook, Picasa (or 14 others) wirelessly, invisibly, automatically.
