Microsoft Windows 7
November 7, 2008
Windows 7 will offer more choice in how users interact with their PCs, such as through multitouch gestures. With Device Stage, Windows 7 enables people to get more from the devices they use most often with their PC, such as cameras, phones and printers. Windows 7 will be a from-the-ground-up packaging of the Windows codebase; partially source, but not binary compatible with previous versions of Windows. Performance of native applications can be increased, distribution sizes can be cut down, functionality can be added without the worry of breaking old applications, and the overall end-user experience can be significantly improved.
Microsoft's early 2009 target for people to begin toying with Windows 7 was striking because the Redmond, Wash.-based software maker promised deadlines it couldn't keep when it was developing Vista. The company is trying hard to avoid a similar debacle this time. Microsoft has publicly demonstrated that Windows 7 will have touchscreen ...Read full article
The Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory
November 5, 2008
MRAM is a type of solid-state memory that can be used to store data even when its power is turned off - a feature known as non-volatility. With read write time comparable to the speed of DRAM, MRAM is a suitable storage medium for cell phone, digital camera, personal digital assistant, and other information appliances. MRAM is physically similar to DRAM in makeup, although often does not require a transistor for the write operation. However, the most basic MRAM cell suffers from the half-select problem, which limits cell sizes to around 180 nm or more.

The Voice Over Internet Protocol
November 3, 2008
Voice over Internet Protocol is a family of technologies that enable voice communications using IP networks like the internet. Inventive developers and entrepreneurs have created an industry around VoIP technology in its many forms: desktop applications, telephone services, and corporate phone systems. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Some VoIP services may only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number - including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Voice will both be more reliable (because the Internet as a whole is more reliable than a fixed network like the old telephone network) and much cheaper.

The GRID Computing
November 2, 2008
The grid computing infrastructure is made up of several key components. The “fabric” consists of the hardware elements – processor “farms” comprising hundreds to thousands of compute nodes, disk and tape storage, and networking. The grid computing infrastructure would run on top of a cloud computing infrastructure. Grid computing is a way to share computing resources within and among organizations. The concept first emerged in the mid-1990s as academic researchers began exploring the rudiments of grid infrastructures.

Cloud Computing
October 28, 2008
Cloud computing is a system of technologies and services that have commoditized IT to make it more readily consumable, scalable, and cost-effective for everyone. Cloud computing is about flexibly finding hardware to run your software on. There is no incentive (contradictory to your statement) of software to live in many different places to “enrich its life”. Cloud computing is a concept of decentralized, readily available data and collaboration. The idea of cloud computing is what allows me to freelance, working largely from home.
Cloud computing is not an “all or nothing” process. Firms can select functions to go into the cloud, according to their confidence and need. Cloud computing is beyond being the new IT buzzword. It is a computing paradigm where business applications are allocated to a combination of connections, and software and services are accessed through a web browser over a network, known as “The Cloud”. Cloud computing is ...Read full article
