iPhone 3G Available in Hong Kong
September 29, 2008
Apple 's iPhone 3G is very similar to the original iPhone . In fact, first-generation iPhones can be updated to use the iPhone 2.0 software, which will give a lot of the software capabilities of iPhone 3G to its predecessor. Apple is now selling its iPhone 3G unlocked via its on-line Apple Store in Hong Kong. The 8GB model sells for HK$5,500 (about US$694) or HK$6,200 (about $797) for the 16 GB. Apple plans to make the iPhone 3G available in over 70 countries in the next few months, largely eliminating the need for unlocked devices in those markets. While some users will undoubtedly still desire unlocked devices for their ability to utilize different carriers in different countries at reduced voice and data expense, the insatiable demand for contract-free phones will be no more.

The ASUS Eee PC 901
September 28, 2008
Asus arguably pioneered the "netbook" category targeted by Intel's newly announced Atom N270 . Asus launched its original Eee PC 4G mini-notebook in November of last year, selling some 350,000 of the devices within four months, it said. Asus has opted for only solid state drives - 12GB if you chose XP or a larger 20GB model if you pick Linux. MSI has taken the opposite approach, only offering an 80GB spinning disk whereas Acer has tried to keep everyone happy with both 8GB SDD and 120GB hard drives available. Asus did so well with the original Eee PC they decided to release other models with similar design goals but minor tweaks of the hardware specs.
Asus expects to sell more than 4 million Eee PCs this year. ASUS just announced an integrated HSUPA option for its 8.9-inch netbook. When coupled with that 7.5-hour (rated) 6-cell battery you’ll have ample time ...Read full article
Dell Inspiron Mini 9
September 28, 2008
The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 will apparently weigh in at 2.28-pounds, boast an internal WiFi module and pack an Intel Atom N270 processor. The baseline model will include Ubuntu Linux 8.04 , 512MB of RAM, a 4GB SSD and a black or white paint job. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (DIM9) won't be as popular this year as the ASUS was this past year. With 60 companies using the atom processor, the competition will be fierce, and the profit margins very tight. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 falls short because it doesn’t offer an extended battery and large-enough storage options.
Available in four captivating designs, these special edition notebooks not only look good, but are also expressions of the user's taste and character. Availability elsewhere will be handled on a country-by-country basis. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 features a sleek new industrial design and is quite a looker. It comes in ...Read full article
Acer Aspire One
September 28, 2008
The Acer Aspire One misses out on a lot of features but it also comes with a whole lot of upgrade options. Though if you can afford to, the EEE PC 901 or the MSI Wind would be a better option as the upgrades are a bit too costly. The Acer Aspire One is available in two flavors-one with Linux preinstalled and one with Windows XP with a price difference of around Rs 2000 between the two. At this point of time, I am thoroughly impressed with the Aspire one for its elegant looks, an unbelievable battery life and the amount of features that it offers for its price. The Acer Aspire One , one of the cheapest mini-notebooks, out there has just gotten even cheaper and a little better. Acer has thrown in a 6-cell battery and reduced pricing for its netbook, making the Aspire One a very smart ...Read full article
